This is a presentation I gave to a packed audience in Manhattan during February 2019. The purpose was to provide the audience with practical tools for improving their relationship with themselves and with others. Essentially, how to stop treating themselves and others as objects.
Social and cultural forms that tend to get in the way of that process, that tend to encourage us to treat ourselves and others as objects, were noted. Those diseased and often viral social and cultural forms have their own goals which tend to encourage a provisional life (a life without meaning) at the expense of an authentic life (a life of meaning). As a consequence, personal and collective individuation is stunted or halted and people and entire cultures suffer.
